It does not alter the claim in any way. You receive the power from the "Power treasury", not from your opponent.
Example: Your opponent has 5 power, you have 0. you win an opposed pow challenge by +5 str and play Superior Claim; Your plot has a revealed claim of 1
You receive: 1 pow from your opponent and two additional pow from the "pow treasury"
After the challenge is resolved, your opponent has 4 power, you have 3
