I'm so excited about murdering characters using Intrigue challenges with Lannister.
May be I miss something. Are there any options to remove the poison token?
Nope. At least not yet.
The best way to avoid the kill effect is through Save interrupts. If you can find a way to return a character to your hand before the Challenges phase is up, that is also a way to protect your character against the Poison token.
Thanks!
Hi, can i save charakter , when i have duplicate . Remove token and discard duplicate or ?
Thanks !
Yes. When you remove the poison token, you can discard the duplicate to save the character from dying.
Question! How would this card react with Selyse Baratheon? I'm pretty new to the game, so i'm wondering if you could trigger Seylse (add 1 intrigue icon) in response to blocking Tears of Lys?
You could not use Selyse after Tears in order to stop Tears from taking effect. There is no text that states that the poison token would be removed should the character gain an intrigue icon. However, the intrigue icon granted by Selyse does count when considering whether or not a character is a valid target for Tears in the first place.
ah~ understood! Thanks!
Seems wrong that this would work on Armies.
Pretend it's a Vat of Wildfire.
I just imagine that the enemy poisoned whatever water source the army was using.
And then the soldiers who saw their fellow soldiers die after drinking the water just shrug and drink the water anyway haha.
I don't think tears kills you right away, hence the delayed effect in game. So its reasonable to assume that the majority of the army could drink some before people started dying.
I'm sure its just my bias as a new player, playing Stark primarily that tears seems very strong.
Landing a tears seems so much easier and cheaper than a Put to the Sword. No "win by 5" requirement. 1 gold cheaper. The two requirements are that a character not have an intrigue icon and that the poison token survive to the end of the round...
Good thing Stark will be stronger with every death in the future.
All that is true, but Put to the Sword takes a character out instantly, whereas, with Tears of Lys, the targets are limited to those without Intrigue icons and the kill is delayed till the end of the phase, so the affected character can still participate in challenges, possibly gaining power and renown and winning the game before the kill effect takes place.
Which is why the costs are different.
If tears is canceled by Bran , can you play a second one ? Since the first one got canceled , does the effect " 1 per challenge " apply ?
Yes, because (if you look on RRG) it's clearly stated that an effect even if cancelled is considered to be played. So, even if Tear had no effect you already played it and you cannot play another one.
NOTE: for the same reason if you play Seeing in flames it's still considered to be played and you can trigger Melisandre.
How does this interact with the Errie?
First player chooses the order of resolution I believe; both effects are "end of phase."
Incorrect - the Eyrie provides protection until the end of the phase, Tears kills a character at the end of the phase. This is fairly well explained in the rules reference under Lasting Effects - 'until the end of the phase' effects will expire just before an 'at the end of the phase' effect will trigger. Functionally end of phase is another sub phase in itself.
they need to bring out some kind of poison token removal
seriously, it's kind of ridiculous that this gets a free pass. what's the point of the Eryie anyways, especially as a greyjoy player that can just use Blessing to stop Swords and other shenanigans
Obviously Greyjoy won't be playing The Eyrie, because they have Blessing, Risen, Iron Mines, and even Aeron. Other factions that don't have all these tools, they might though. Especially once Valar hits.
True, but equally I'm surprised this is the only poison card we have seen.
The Eyrie stops every other triggered kill effect in the game as long as you tap it during that phase (so works with plots etc as well) and will continue to become more valuable as more kill effects show up. It's not something I would expect to run with Greyjoy - they already have plenty of in faction saves.
