Sending back a 2-4 cost character at an opportune time can be a game-changer.  This card really helps Lannister deal head on with specific threats.

Absolutely. My favourite time to use it is if they only have 1 character out for claim soak and said guy is cheap. That'll teach them to let my military through unopposed!

To continue on with the Things I Do For Love discussion from the Hand's Judgement comments, there are two minor drawbacks that I don't think people have mentioned:

1. You have to kneel your faction card. This isn't such an issue now, but Lanni Fealty may become more viable in the near future, and there may be more effects that require kneeling your faction card. This could mean that you may have multiple effects you want to trigger in a round but are limited to one (unless a future effect allows you to stand your faction card, but I think that is unlikely).

2. You must control a Lanni Lord or Lady character. If you are playing Lanni as your main faction, this shouldn't be an issue, but if you are bannering to Lanni, it could be less reliable to trigger (at present I think only Tyrion and Jaime could trigger it out-of-faction).

To be honest, I'm not sure Lanni Fealty will ever really be a thing.  There's enough money in Lanni that there's no point hampering your deckbuilding with the 'maximum of 15 Neutral card' restriction.  That makes the Faction card cost less relevant until more effects come out with the same cost.  But that doesn't in any way reduce the quality of TTIDFL.  It just means that there will be a decision to make when putting your deck together, which can only be a good thing.

As for the controlling a Lanni Lord or Lady, there's 5 choices at the moment (three when bannering, but TTIDFL may not be the best choice in a banner faction for that very reason).  That's more than enough for now and will only increase when we get Myrcella,Kevan and Daven (and possibly Lady Genna).

TTIDFL is a great card!

And Tommen!

I don't think it's unlikely to see an effect which stands house cards. In 1.0 there were house attachments (attachments which attach to your house cards) if they return I'd imagine at least one may have a stand effect for the house card.

There's no such thing as too much money after all we are speaking about Lannisters :)

Just the ability to use plots with less gold and more effects would be nice.

Does the duplicate rescue character?

Does the duplicate rescue character?

You can use a duplicate to save a character from this effect.

Does the X in the cost area mean nothing (zero) ? And also does the X in the text box mean any cost ? I ask because some cards have a zero in the cost area.

The card's printed cost is zero, but you can pay whatever you want and that amount is what X is equal to for the Challenges Action.

Ah, so I pay whatever the printed cost is on the opponent's card to remove that card to their hand.

Exactly.
