If the character this is attached to leaves play, causing it to be discarded, a second Kingslayer could be put into play and used, correct?
That's wrong I believe. If Kingslayer leaves play, it loses track of all effects, so a new copy (or the same card put into play from the discard pile by Ser Kevan Lannister) can be used again.
We will await the faq for resolution...
So that you would not do it again with the same character. You need to kill it's wielder and reattach it to use again, however it is terminal so you need to work for it to return to hand.
I'm not saying that you can't remarshall it if it has not been triggered. I'm saying if you have triggered it's Action, remarshalling it would not be beneficial as you can't re trigger another instance of its action.
There's no need for an FAQ. The Rules Reference covers this issue, under 'Limits and Maxima' Pg12
"If a card leaves play and re-enters play during the same period, the card is considered to be bringing a new copy of the ability to the game." It is the same rule that applies when using Nymeria's ability twice in one phase through a combination of bouncing to hand and returning to play during the Challenges Phase. If the card read "Maximum once per game" then it would be a different story
“Max X per [period]†is a maximum that appears on cards that do not enter or remain in play through the resolution of their effect. (An event card, for example.) Such a phrase imposes a maximum number of times that ability can be initiated from all copies (by title) of cards bearing the ability (including itself), during the designated period. Initiating an ability on a card counts towards the maximum for all copies of that card." The important sentence being the last one.
I realise that the rules are printed In black and white and good players should know them.
It would be simpler however if FFG's use of conventional English language in conjunction with rules interpretations could be improved or made more in line with proper English.
It's like when my wife says 'go on then'; what she really means is '' I dare you! ''
Joking aside... Sometimes the logic behind rulings is questionable, the whole mirri/hound thing, nymeria being able to take an icon that don't exist, and the whole tears of lys saga.
It just makes the game more complicated than it needs to be.
All we need now is playable Kingsguards :/
And a better Kingslayer card!
KingMaker in melee!
Could I play this on an opponents Kingsguard Character to gain 2 pow if that character leaves play?
If I could (and would) Could my opponent use the Ation or not (cause I still controll an attachement I played even if it sits on an opponents character)
Well... first you have to put it on a kingsguard, quite rare!
Then you are the owner and controller of the attachment, so:
- when the attached character leaves play YOUR opponent (the character's controller) gains 2 power
- you cannot use cards you do not control to pay for costs (see Tithe ruling
). You cannot kneel attached chracter
Ah, yes. THAT is the point I missed. So no hilarious, situational jank.
