So I played 2 events and got KoF to 7 STR and my friend played nightmares and he wondered as to why KoF’s STR did not return to printed value (3).

The term you're looking for is Lasting Effect:

 

A lasting effect persists beyond the resolution of the ability that created it, for the duration specified by the effect. The effect continues to affect the game state for the specified duration regardless of whether the card that created the lasting effect is or remains in play.

You fired 2 bullets, and then your friend put the safety on your gun and wondered why the bullets didn't return to the chamber.
