Stupid question but what happens to characters with dupes? Do you remove one dupe or does it kill the character even if it has a dupe?
It would kill a character with a duplicate though you can use the duplicate to save that character, so the former.
A "cannot be saved" should have been nice in this card
Spooky. Then I'd play with locations and events only
A couple of questions with this card:
1) When this card is revealed, who chooses the order that characters are placed in the dead pile?
(Wondering for use with Ghosts of Harrenhal.)
2) Does it kill all characters simultaneously, and if not in what order?
Reason I ask is that I was playing on throneteki, had a load of Starks out, including Catelyn, plus Riverrun. I had 12 power. The game kills characters from left to right, allowing me to trigger Catelyn and Riverrun, and then Catelyn, taking me to 15 power, and then killed Catelyn, reducing my power to 10. Should I have won? As it was we continued playing until my opponent won.
1) Each player chooses the order in which cards he owns are placed in his dead pile.
2) All characters die simultaneously. I'll report this issue to the throneteki guys.
Further to stpleco's example, what if we have two plots revealed that cause kill effects (eg Wildfire and Valar). Are all the deaths from *both plots* simultaneous? Or would the deaths from the first plot count for power before the second plot takes effect?
RRG: III. Initiate When Revealed abilities.
- If multiple players have When Revealed abilities on their plot cards, the first player determines the order in which these abilities initiate. Resolve each when revealed ability before initiating the next.
Right, so I get that one plot is resolved before the other. I just want to know that you could win by accumulating power with the first plot, without the second plot needing to be triggered/resolved.
Yes, if a player reach a win condition the game ends immediately.
Awesome. Thanks!
This card makes the whole game beeing just a huge pile of ****. When the only factor of the game is "can I get around Valar or not" it really gets annyoing to play...
If that's the only factor in your games, then there is something wrong with your deckbuilding.
"Can I get around Bara kneeling and dominance?"
"Can I get around Dracaris?"
"Can I get around Martell shenanigans?"
Okay, so one of these questions isn't being asked by anyone, but you get the idea. Your deck's got to be more than just Valar-proof.
Is Valar really big in your local meta right now?
With Valar u will always get around everything that is on the board, The only question is if it is duped or not. So the only thing that matters is if u can survive Valar or not. And I think Valar is big everywhere right now...
I just don't think that there should be one card that powerful...
It's a bit like nuclear missiles. A deterrent. Keep a small board, engage in proxy wars, don't overextend, and always keep reserve characters in hand. If done right, Valar will eventually be detrimental for the player who reveals it as the 7th plot.
