Seems powerful until you realize it's an overpriced save that only works on military claim, on a character with horrible stats. Saves that only work on military claim are horrible, horrible deals unless applied in liberal amounts at bargain basement prices, or tacked on to already good cards. The exciting part is paying 2 more gold on a rather conditional opportunity to kill an attacker. But be ready to be sad when your opponent responds with Treachery. And it's pretty damn telegraphed.

Two gold gets you a *lot* of options with Lanni, though, so Podric specifically may not be as telegraphed. :)

What is overpriced on a card which for 2 gold saves 1 military claim AND ambushes new 2-icon character into play? Even with weenie strength.

And Treachery is not an argument, because Treachery works on hundreds of cards. Also Bran Stark or Nightmares will not stop this effect. Not to mention a synergy with Tyrion or other Lanni cards.

I wonder about ruling of this card when Fortified Position is in play. As I understand it: the 1st part (save) should work however 2nd part (killing) should not work as Podrick is already in play with blank text. Or is it lasting effect of the Interrupt and 'kill part' can still be applied? Can someone clarify?

It is same as with Risen from the sea (same construction). There is no pause (before "Then")) when blank could work. Either way, it works same ass Edd (NW), blank gets him after he triggers his ability.

You trigger the ability while the card is still in your hand, with active text. The effects of the ability resolve regardless of what's happening with the source of the ability.

Overpriced as a save effect. (And super overpriced in setup, why not 2 cost?). The bicon weenie is nice, but Bodyguard (for example) is cheaper, works against other kill effects that actually target kill (not just claim), can have multiple saves out, and is much better during setup. One strength bicon be damned. It's not bad that Treachery cancels it (it does indeed cancel so many good cards), just sad making. Particularly because this kid baits you into making a bad claim decision (choosing Tyrion), then losing both Tyrion and the potential kill effect to Treachery, when you could have just chosen some chump and been fine. But at least you got a bicon chump out of it, right?! Feelsbadman.

It's a save that doesn't actually help you avoid most bad situations, and can potentially put you in one that you would have never been in had you drawn a blank card.

This is a card that will impact opponent's play decisions even if you don't run it.

It isn't exactly uncommon for Lannister players with Tyrion on the board to a) have access to 4 gold, and B) want to have 4 gold to ambush in the Hound.

For me the question is whether you want 1 copy because it can be such a powerful effect, or no copies because the opponent isn't going to risk mil when you have 4 gold anyway (unless they don't know about this card of course).

I wonder why you liked wordsmith's post although you completely disagreed

If it was a 2 cost it would be in every Lannister deck because he's good in every situation.

Now, imho, he competes more with the event slots then the character slots in a deck.

Melee thought of the day: You can save your opponents Tyrion and still kill an attacking character

Melee thought of the day: You can save your opponents Tyrion and still kill an attacking character

If opponent's Tyrion would have to be killed this means that you are the attacker and you would need to kill one of your characters.

I wonder more about how it will interact with Martell's "Vengeance for Elia"... opponent attacks me with MIL, I loose, I play "Vengeance for Elia", opponent chooses his Tyrion -> I guess that then and only then it would be possible because all requirements of Podrick are met. I'm defender and Tyrion is about to die in MIL claim. Then I can kill attacking character of opponent/ Podrick is non-loyal so Martell/Banner of Lion makes it doable.

Because I don't dislike people for disagreeing with me! I thought they brought up some good points and I like having my opinions tested and questioned. <3

Also, I don't think we completely disagreed. I agree with all the statements made in wordsmith's post that I "liked."

I see. I disagree to your statement on Podrick :P

And to go sure: agree to wordsmit's psot, that's why I liked it.

Think I have to make clear, now that this like-button doesn't do what I thought it would do ;)
