I have some fun with this and Wirewood bow. Do a challenge. If a 5 or 6 str character defends (In my instance it was a Fast Eddy with 5 renown on him) ,use Wirewood bow to bring their str down by 2, then use catapult to kill that character. 2 weirwood bows gives you the ability to kill an 8 str defender. 3, a 10 str. The watch got burn !

I wonder how you can kill a defending character if Catapult targets attacking characters only. Or how you use Bow on attacking character if it says defending characters only... I think you misread the ability on one of those.

Oh dear lord. Super embaressing.  Yup you are absolutely right. I was using Catapult wrong. Damn. There goes my plan! I would love to delete the post, but in case anyone else is a s dumb as me, it's here for all to see.

Power Behind the Throne to Catapult your own Benjen

No worries, I miss those things sometimes too. And as I'm experimenting a lot with Wildlings lately I was aware of that stuff. Also my friend is developing a "Catapult" deck, so far the best crew to Catapult seems to be:

- Fiery Followers

- some friend of Satin or Jeyne Westerling

- Magister Illyrio with anyone (cost 2g)

I liked it as a 1 of in my Targ Watch deck, very nice with burn, Plaza, and Illyrio. Just didn't have room for more unfortunately.

Core Ned.

In my first Store Champs I very smugly used Tears Of Lys after *defending* an intrigue challenge. It was only after winning the tournament I realised my mistake.

On topic, tho', I wonder how effective people have been finding this. I've yet to try it as the cost seems prohibitive, and attachment removal is relatively easy...

When I was attacked by Shaggydog en Rickon (who got a military icon thanks to Shaggydog) [and other strength modifiers which made him more powerful], I knelt my catapult to kill Shaggydog. But how is the challenge resolved in that case? After all, killing Shaggydog caused Rickon to loose his military icon. Remains Rickon knelt? And are there other effects?

Not having an icon never causes a character to stop participating in a challenge.  That's why cards like Wardens of the North or Wun-Wun work.
