These guys could get scary if you let them stick around for a few turns.
Even if Lannister is just dropping a couple leftover gold in Dominance and Standing (and Lannister will usually have leftover gold they're just dropping in Taxation) that's still going to add up quick.
Good thing we have the First Snow of Winter
True--but that can be said when talking about a lot of cards
And tbh, they only get the bonus during Int challenges that Lanni were probably winning anyway. A solid weenie, but nothing gamebreakingly amazing.
So...who is ready for a Martell-Lion deck that uses these for the dream 50 str int challenge with The Red Viper? C'mon, someone do it!
Will the gold on it return to the treasury at the taxation phase?
No. Only Gold from you gold pool will return to the treasury in the taxation phase.
Indeed.
Yeah... but keep in mind that even in Lannister, you don't often have gold in your gold pool during plot and draw.
2 key action windows for Lannister players to remember with these guys: The action window in Dominance which comes after gold is counted towards dominance strength and the action window in Standing after cards are stood back up.
Those are 2 easy situations to spend the gold after it has served its use, remembering that gold is returned before the action window in Taxation.
Can you spend the gold you place on Red Cloaks?
No.
Per the Rules reference: "A player pays a gold cost by returning the indicated amount of gold from his or her gold pool to the treasury."
Since the gold is no longer in your gold pool after you move it onto Red Cloaks, it can't be spent to pay for a gold cost.
Now if we ever get a card that says something like "discard x gold to do y" then you might be able to use gold on Red Cloaks there as it doesn't specify that the gold must be discarded from your gold pool.
Thank you for clearing that up. I imagine they would be a great deal more powerful if you could use the gold your place on them to pay for stuff too.
