I am such a wuss with this card. Always have it sitting in my hand and not wanting to drop it ;(
I am just such a resource-hog...
And other times I've been topdecking and wished I'd have had one (or two)!
If you have a rose road and less than 5 cards in hand I would almost always play this card. It is an amazing way to refill your hand and if you don't have cards in hand then what do you need the resources for?
Also good if you are the best player in melee to drop 3 of these in the setup.
As in...saddle yourself with a near-permanent -3 gold for no benefit whatsoever?
How does dropping 3 of these during setup handicap your opponents? Is there a way in setup to make your opponent's take control of your locations that I am blanking on here?
Or is the assumption that somehow, all 3 of your opponents don't know how setup works in regard to cards with reactions to marshaling themselves?
So, remembering an old matter, can Pleasure Barge's Reaction be cancelled using Treachery? (Regarding the Immune to card effects part).
Yes - the effect itself is not immune to events.
What? Don't beguile people, the effect is printed on a card that is immune to card effects, therefore it cannot be canceled by any card effect.
If you want to make a joke pls use ~ before writing misleading comment.
Cards and their effects are treaten separately, an effect that cannot be canceled report in its text "cannot be canceled".
~People are not meant to question the words of Istaril.
They're not even istaril's words. They're FFG's:
Immune (RRG, p. 9)
If a card is immune to a specified set of effects (for example, “immune to event card effects,†or “immune to (Tyrell) card effectsâ€), it cannot be targeted or affected by effects that belong to that set. Only the card itself is protected, and peripheral entities associated with an immune card (such as attachments, tokens, abilities originating from an immune card, or duplicates) are not themselves immune.
So, does Barge can be sac-ed on Political Disasters ?
Note that "sacrificed" has a particular meaning in this game, which does not apply with Political Disasters.
Pleasure Barge is immune to card effects. This includes plots.
Immunity means that the card cannot be targeted or affected by whatever it is immune to. So the Barge cannot be chosen as one of your 2 for Political Disasters (because it cannot be targeted), but that it won't be discarded, chosen or not (because it cannot be affected). The Barge (plus the 2 other locations you choose) would survive Political Disaster.
The real question is: is Political disaster a card?
The Learn-to-Play guide (pg. 3) call it a "plot card" so I'd have to say yes!
Thanks you. I understand that the card won't be a valid target for the plot, but I wasn't sure that it would not be "discarded" (sorry for the wrong term - Magic keywords are strong inside me).
(Pretty sure it was a rhetorical question.)
That said, and in all fairness, a lot of people get confused by when immunity does and does not protect against effects that are not targeted.
So the real question: is there any way in the current card pool to get rid of the negative effect of this card? Immune to card effects makes that seem unlikely, but maybe someone sees something i don't.
Are costs considered part of the card effect? As if a card would ask for discarding/sacrificing a location you control to do something else, would Pleasure Barge still be immune to it?
From ktom post on another thread, it would seem that costs are not part of the effect, but I'm not sure how does that work with immunity to card effects.
From the entry on "Immune," RRG, p. 9:
"Immunity only protects a card from effects. It does not prevent a card from being used to pay costs."
So you can use Pleasure Barge to pay the cost (kneel it, sacrifice it, etc.) of another card.
