Can't say that I'm too impressed with Renly considering how he fits within the current card pool.  It is true that he is a tricon, but Littlefinger is a bicon, and yields more versatility with his gold generation and card draw...and he costs 1 less gold. Given Renly's ability you would want to play him in a baratheon support role to another house, but then 'ours is the fury' (loyal) is not available.

Um... I'm not sure I read your implications right, but it sounds like you just said that Baratheon should never be played in a support/banner role to another House because giving up "Ours if the Fury" when you're going to be playing with Baratheon cards anyway is just dumb?

Also, nothing stops you from playing Renly in a Bara deck with banner, if you like Ours is the fury so much (not sure why would you in a banner deck).

To ktom: Baratheon is a fine house to support with; however, I feel that littlefinger is better than Renly in almost every way: 1) as I said above he has more versatility in his gold generation and card draw than Renly, and 2) the extra icon (military) without "Ours is the Fury" isn't as useful as a lower cost more versatile (in his ability) character.

I think you might be under the mistaken impression that Ours is the Fury cares what icons the chosen character has - it does not.

But it's one neutral card less if you pick him over Littlefinger, people!

Not too impressed with this boy, but I see myself falling into an old habit and create a "small council" deck that barely works and where he'll make a presence. I'll probably come back here in two years and sigh.

As for his design: there's nothing wrong with Bara in a support role. It's not like Ours is the Fury is ultra-competitive, or maybe my vision is clouded after months of not playing the game.

Was Renly ever part of the small council in Kings Landing? Anyone have a page reference?

Don't have a page reference, but yes, he was. He was Master of Laws during book 1.

Might be able to squeeze him in with an Ocean Road and that Council event coming up soon I suppose.
