I'm really not sold on this plot. Most of the time it's going to mean no more than 2 power a game, but the stats are poor. A Feast for Crows usually gets you the same with enough gold to help you meet it's condition.
I think it's less about the power and more about challenge deterrence when Baratheon can only realistically defend against a single challenge (Military or Power). Remember, Baratheon is already kneeling half the board on both sides...
Still, I do agree that it misses the mark a little bit. Even 1 more gold or a couple more on reserve would have helped a lot.
Yeah, I understand what they were going for, but the stats mean I usually won't put it in my plot deck. That makes me sad when I see Wardens of the West or Rise of the Kraken and I realise what a Loyal plot could be..
True enough. Though I think this one will get a little better as we get more and more effects that kneel faction cards (both positive and negative).
I can actually envision a Baratheon Attachment or Location that kneels a faction card and doesn't allow it to stand unless the player pays some penalty (power, gold, kneel, whatever).
Also, it should be said that I love the art on this. Beautiful, and those guards look like badasses. Art actually really reminds me of the box art for the Kazad Dum Deluxe for LotR...
The stats aren't great but the strength is that it's not as conditional as, say, Feast. It slows aggro decks down really bad. Greyjoy needs to lose their fealty/seastone trigger or give up their power rush advantage, for instance. Not as top-of-the-line as some of the other faction plots, but servicable. Also, great in melee.
Yep. Or even 2 Military challenges and one power challenge if they're fielding Khal Drogo.
I think this card could have been good if the stats were better. Maybe some extra reserve would have been enough. It's a great stall card, but I don't see myself using it over other stall cards like Calm right now.
It seems something I will look back to once the card pool expands though.
Seems like a good melee card for challenge deterrents.
It might have been better if it was a Forced Reaction. That way both players have to monitor it and apply the effects, whereas, as a Reaction, it's another trigger for the Bara player to miss! Or Cat Stark to stop. Which makes it an even worse plot!
Stat line is off, should have been an extra 1 gold, and 1 reserve. Even then, there are better plots out there atm. Needs more underlying support to kneel house cards.
