I think this card has a lot of potential. Stark/Rose deck could cause some real headaches. Just need a few more Direwolf cards.
I think stark also needs a few more inexpensive intrigue icons for this to be really useful. You need to have a Stark character participating and as of now Stark only has two native intrigue icons.
Stark currently has three native intrigue icons.
It's neat that it lets your direwolves (and character's with "Lady" attached) participate in any sort of challenge as long has you have a participating Stark character. Also interesting with The Wolfswood - it can really change challenge math.
Having now played several games with this guy (in Stark Fealty running 3x Lady) I am quite impressed.
He is kind of like a MTG charm - lots of little things that wouldn't be worth a card on their own, but having the option to do any of:
Use a Direwolf in an Int/Pow challenge
Add STR after the opponent commits defenders / events
Avoid Stealth (especially with Lady)
Use Catlyn in a Military Challenge (with Lady)
Make it worth considering him over Direwolf Pup and/or the Knight.
I have a question. Can I use it with another player's direwolf?
No. "Do X to Y" indicates a cost. A cost, according to the rules, can only be paid with game elements you control.
This card truly has become a staple in Stark decks. Curious to see how long it'll stay like that.
Its solid, and the tricks it pulls are real. Its base stats are crap, but in a way it essentially grants additional icons onto direwolves (or characters with Lady/Nymeria attached), as well as providing a combat trick, so its utility makes up for its weak base stats. I initially thought it would be weak but have changed my mind and I like it a lot now.
Quick question on this: as it is non unique and you can have three out, does that mean mean that each of those cards can trigger the ability each phase even though each card individually says once per phase?
Yupp yupp
