Any idea what you'd replace Matthew Alexander with now that he's been added to the Restricted list?

I'd actually be more liable to keep Matthew Alexander and cut the Historians and replace them with your preference of a mix of Lucas Tetlow and Bruno Carioli.

That's really interesting. What would be the reasoning behind that? I'm still a new player and that's a decision I didn't see coming!

Alexander is a character with quite a few relevant icons and a decent skill pumping ability that is a decent body you can get for free.  Historian is really good still, and cutting them might warrant cutting the 1x Professor Morgan too, but Matthew Alexander is probably better than them in this deck, because he can be a free three drop as early as turn 1.  The replacements are because Bruno is a cheap body with good icons, and Lucas Tetlow is just really good.

I can't remember the last time I saw Notebook Sketches in a list, and with the changes to the meta post-FAQ, I think it could be a solid addition.  Looking forward to checking it out.

What am I missing about Notebook Sketches?  How is it useful?  How do you know what card to call?

Typically you would run Notebook Sketches in a deck that lets you reveal your opponent's cards (either in their hand on top of their deck).  At a recent regionals I faced a lot of San Giorgio-Temple decks and dormant cards (which are fairly easy to guess), and Notebook Sketches could be useful in both those situations as San Giorgio reveals their hand to you (or you could just name the Temple or DOA each turn).

I think it could also be fun with the Archemage's Attache.  If you can't or don't want to play the revealed card for some reason, you can always increase its cost for your opponent on their turn.

It's also a nice combo breaker if you know a specific card is bad news for you.  For example, maybe calling Khopesh turn after turn against Cthulhu is enough to keep you in a game.  Or Josef Meiger (pre-FAQ) if you see Lodge on the board.

Doing some thinking about what you said on Alternative Historian vs Matthew Alexander; how would you keep Terror struggles under control?  I see the 3x Daring Buju and I'm also running 3x Zero Viability.  Is that enough to make Historian easier to cut in favor of Matthew Alexander?  I understand our decks have different focuses, but it's decisions like this on key cards that I'm still picking up on.  Thank you for your time and patience.

I'm confused. Some Explorer mechanics won't work because you wouldn't control Miskatonic cards only if you have e.g. The Archmage's Attache in play?
