Benjoewoo â€“ 5/5
Immunity to Assassination, fairly efficient stats, and a great non-triggered ability make this a solid auto-include in the core only environment. It may be phased out early depending on future releases, but those releases would have to present multiple particularly great crab characters to push out this one.

Kingsley - 3/5
Decent stats and an OK ability make this a solid but uninspiring pick. For now it'll be widely played, but I don't think many decks will be that sad about cutting it. If you do have to pile upgrades or buffs onto one character in a big fight, though, Borderlands Defender is your girl.

nyxnyxnyx - 3/5
Pretty good solo defender and wielder of Ornate Fans and Fine Katanas, since you can reliably ensure you will not get 2-for-1’d or more investing in her. Nothing too exciting to shout about, however.

Grendel - 3/5
Nothing exciting here, being decidedly average in the 3 drop range is a pretty big fault.

I Fight Dragons â€“ 3/5
This is my textbook example of an average 3 cost character: 3/3 stats, some glory, and a decent but limited effect. The insurance on defense is really nice, but I imagine more powerful 3 cost cards will edge this one out in the future.

Against some of the tough match-ups like Crane or even Dragon that runs lots of move home or Bow tech, this card is amazing.
She is also out of the Crane stronghold bow range if she gets blanked. (Cloud the mind)
Its super annoying not being able to "Mountain does not fall " because your opponent runs a lot of Bow tech. And with cards like " High kick" coming i find her to become even more useful.

Not the best place for Mountain Does Not Fall anyway, as its stats are somewhat low, though I guess you can buff. Tactically, probably still best to hold back that event card for Hida Kisada or Kaiu Shuichi or even Hida Tomonatsi. As long as you time it carefully, you can be pretty sure when it is safe to play: After all, if you are winning a conflict and your opponent passes, you can be 95% sure they're not in a position to play a bow effect, else they wouldn't risk 2 consecutive passes ending on a conflict loss.

This card is a staple for Crab. Good stats, nice effect, great synergy with Mountain does not fall, ultra solid.

Agreed, but a problem in crab i have found is surviving turn 1 or 2, so you often dont get the luxury of waiting to play Mountain.

Those saying that it isn't the best target for Mountain, who do you consider a better target?  Kisada, I guess, but anyone else?  Intimidating Hida and Steadfast Witch Hunter have 4/2, which is arguably a better statline than 3/3, but not necessarily so when you are planning to defend both conflicts and hopefully attack in the 4th conflict.  And her immunity all but guarantees that she will actually get use out of Mountain, at least for 2 defenses and +1 towards favor (opponent could still target her with Water if she has no Fate, or kill her with something like Way of the Scorpion/I Can Swim).

I wasn't originally that sold on Borderlands Defender, but after dropping the Beserker, I'm really starting to come around on her and think she might be the best target for Mountain, with the possible exceptions of Kisada and maybe the Witch Hunter.  Even Kaiu Shuichi is not as good IMO, as his 2 Glory is a liability, and you always want him attacking (so he's not a great choice when you are first player).

She's in the deck at the moment, but I'm fully expecting her to be one of the earlier cuts as the card pool expands. Even a clan of defence needs to be more proactive than this character's ability.

She is one of the best characters for the Crab, and I don't see her leaving any time soon. She is my choice for early turns, and an amazing target for Mountain (no Admit, no Rout etc), and thus she is also an amazing Spyglass/other attachment carrier.

+1. Totally agree

She's a staple in Crab, one of the key characters in keeper archetypes and the best target, without doubt, for Mountain does not Fall. It will be long till she leaves Crab decks.
