That effect scared me a lot at first, before I realised that it could only affect conflict characters. I mean, its still nasty, as it basically means that any conflict character I want to bring in is going to double its cost. I'll have to be REALLY sure that I need them in play, or try to get rid of this Shadowshaper first which seems like a waste of focus.
Regarding Dragon, a character that is played as an attachment would now be considered an attachment and therefore not effected by this action, right?
right.
If he wasn't a a Shugenja this card would be binder fodder. As he IS a shugenja, well... actually Scorpion are pretty well covered in that department anyway, but maybe I'll swap one of my Soshi Illusionists for him.
I guess the real question here is about the Shadow trait, which is unique to this card. Maybe it'll have some other synergy?
Two words. Hiruma Skirmisher. This guy makes Skirmisher immensely good. He can be used offensively, and defensively - crane drop that big nasty Political Rival in - back to hand he goes! You play in a meek informant? Return him to hand after he's been in a conflict so in a few turns you can take another peak at your opponent's hand.
This guy will only get better, and right now I think he's still pretty good.
