This card is intriguing to me, because it might make Taka viable. The idea of sacrificing a spud character with a Funeral Pyre to gain two fate and two cards is exciting. Victory via fish-monger?
4 is too much for an ability like this, I think. I mean yeah, the combo potential is sick, with Funeral Pyre and Kaiu Envoy. Stoic Gunso times well too. Way of the Crab could work, but in-conflict is normally risky timing. Witch Hunter generally triggers between conflicts.
Yeah, it's all too fiddly, I think. I mean, I like card draw, but Shrewd Yasuki does that better and cheaper. And I like Fate, but I don't like needing a 4 fate character to generate fate. (And sure, Kudaka, but she's got other benefits like Shugenja trait).
Think this one stays in the binder until the card pool expands to make in-conflict sacrificing a regular event.
You can run Tainted Hero.
She fits into Takas army.
And she has Courtier trait , which is also helpful.
Sure, these are all little consolations. But there's just no room for this level of quality in the current Crab dynasty card pool. In my opinion, anyway.
The sacrificial weenie army is on the march. Certainly nice with Kuni Lab.
The deck this fits in is a very different beast than the current commonplace crab deck. You want plenty of characters that are able to sacrifice themselves or others, funeral pyre, Taka and so on. You could even get a ring effect with guardian kami for just one fate, recouping half the cost and the card. The economy engine with taka, funeral pyre and the broker should give you even more ability to stick around than a normal crab deck would. The larger issue would be to find a way to win the game. I think this would work well with the berserker subtheme. Vengeful berserker can get to silly values pretty easily. Crisis breaker is just a solid card, and if you want to go deep there is also tainted hero and hida amoro to consider.
Fair point, I think definitely could work around a sacrifice-centred theme deck. But as you say, would it win games?
