This card works really well in a palantir deck. The palantir will let you see the top three cards of the encounter deck so therefore as long as the card with surge is the first or second card shown you'll know exactly what card to name for the Lampwright and foil the surge. This is a very powerful effect for scenarios that have a lot of surge effects as it shuts down surge chaining and makes the potential threat gain of the palantir well worth the risk. Outside of the palantir deck, this card is a simply a spirit sphere chump blocker until we get deeper scrying effects for the encounter deck.
