Does this character's card effect reduce her own cost? Is there a rule for a character's own card effect working on them? Other examples are Elrond's "response" card effect, Theoden and Dain Ironfoots card effects, Glorfindel's heal action. Do all of these character's card effects work on themselves?
All these cards work on themselves. Mirlonde is really 7 threat.

Is she a made up character by FFG? I couldn't find any other background informations about her...

She's not bad but...she's got kind of a Glorfindel thing going on but almost always worse and/or more restrictive.

Would have liked her ability to trigger off of Silvan as well as Printed Lore--would have kept her from triggering on Spirit Glorfindel but still allowed her a little more versatility and more opportunity to use her to her best effect.

Yes, she is part of FFG's 'alternate universe'.

Any hero compared to spirit Glorfidel will lose. But I agree that she could have some silvan synergy at the top of her ability. Trait synergy is much better than sphere synergy for theme in my opinion. Too bad that in the 3rd cycle designers thought otherwise.

I think she's built to make pretty cool mono-sphere decks or secrecy decks. You must try to boost her attack or questing power and she's fine.

I agree but mono-Lore is not ideal for secrecy. Not impossible but...not ideal.

Ultimately she's just an example of why Against the Shadow and Heirs was my least favorite cycle--nothing wrong with trying to buff up Mono-Sphere decks but they did it in such a way that a lot of these cards were buffed to the exclusion of other strategies.

I get that Mono-Spere is where she's focused but adding in some more synergy somewhere would have given her a lot more legs out of the cycle...

Don't get me started on Spirit Glorfindel! So many confusing feeling about that card--there's another thread about it right now on the FFG forums.

But honestly, with just a little more synergy I think she could beat Glorfindel in some situations. Sometimes you just want that low threat and Glorfindel gets picked just for his threat cost. Having another alternative that frees up 6 slots in your deck vs Glorfindel would be nice. But she is so focused on mono she becomes pretty corner-case.

Essentially, she is 6 threat, as two lore heroes is easy to work with. That's not too bad, and though my original opinion on this card was rather hateful, I now feel neutral about her. Bifur is still almost always better though.

I absolutely do not hate her. I'm actually using her in a Merlonde/Legolas/Haldir deck right now that makes pretty good use out of her Silvan trait and relatively low threat. She's not bad...but she's just harder to use than she should be.

One of the main arguments against Spirit Glorfindel is that he's just so easy to slot in anywhere that he's overplayed. Merlonde has the exact opposite problem. She's not bad...but there is almost always a better bet. She's just really hard to find a place for as you want to get full benefit from her ability.

More than anything I just think she's a missed opportunity--she could have been so much more versatile if she just had a little bit more synergy outside of her pure "Printed Lore" thing. A unique attachment that worked with her, for instance. Or including Silvan in her ability triggers as noted earlier.

Just...something to make it feel less like work or sub-optimal deck construction whenever you are putting together a deck with her.
