To the River...

To the River...
Type: Quest
Encounter Set: Journey Down the Anduin
Encounter Info: Dol Guldur Orcs, Journey Down the Anduin, Sauron's Reach, Wilderlands
Quest Points: 8

Setup: Each player reveals 1 card from the top of the encounter deck, and adds it to the staging area.
When Revealed: Search the encounter deck for 1 Hill Troll (if one is not already in play), and place it in the staging area. Shuffle the encounter deck.

Players cannot defeat this stage while any Hill Troll cards are in play.
Emerging from Mirkwood Forest with an urgent message for Lady Galadriel, you must now make your way south along the Anduin River in order to reach the forest of Lorien. As you leave the forest behind, you notice that you are being pursued, and thus quicken your pace...

As you approach the location of a small raft stranded on the riverbank, a fearsome Hill Troll emerges from behind a grouping of rocks, and attacks!

Dealing with 'The' Troll at the start of this quest is still one of the key thoughts i have when making a deck, and this stage still remains a pain in the backside!
This is surely not a lvl4 quest, but a lvl6 instead. It took me the fifth attempt to finally beat it. With the new Glorfindel you have so low threat that you can build up, and meet it well prepared.
If you're running Lore just put a Forest Snare (Core) on the troll, and slowly finish it with a Mirkwood Runner (RtM). It slow, but simple. :)
Since this set up asks to reveal a card, do you trigger tthe when revealed effects from it, right? If the revealed card is the treachery that raises your thread by the number of characters not commited to.the quest, you raise it by 3 due to your heroes, right?

Yes to the first question - as per the definition in the FAQ any form of "Reveal" requires you to add the card to the staging area and resolve any When revealed effects.

As for the second question - characters can only be committed to the quest during the Quest phase, so during setup they are not. Whether or not the effect should trigger is another topic. My personal opinion is like yours - you answer the question "how many characters", the answer is 3, so you raise your threat by that.
