Vilya is what really sets him apart, but don't discount his ability to amplify healing. He turns Warden of Healing into an absolute powerhouse. With a bit of shadow card control and a Daughter of the Nimrodel in play, he can tank hits from Durin's Bane almost indefinitely (at least until the Balrog gets its sword).
Put A Burning Brand (CatC), Vilya (SaF), Protector of Lorien (Core), Unexpected Courage (Core), and Resourceful (TWitW) on him and watch him go. Elrond fears nothing.

I don't have this AP yet, but… quantity should be 1, shouldn't it?

Yes, there's just one Elrond.

Put A Burning Brand (CatC), Vilya (SaF), Protector of Lorien (Core), Unexpected Courage (Core), and Resourceful (TWitW) on him and watch him go. Elrond fears nothing.

Wow, that is quite a stable of cards.  I don't disagree this would make him awesome, but any hero can be made awesome with a pile of select expensive cards like that.  You certainly can't judge a hero apart from his available card pool, but that list is a little extreme to consider as a viable setup for every game.

Seems he might still fear being wet

Elrond is the perfect candidate for my Silvan-Deck. Duo him with tactics Legolas and Song of Mocking. Elrond defends, Legolas takes damage, which is regenerated by Silvan Tracker. Elrond is also able to pay for Lorien Guide.

Just to clarify: Is it possible to buy a, lets say, tactics ally with a mono-lore deck or do I have to control atleast 1 "real" tactics hero to pay with Elrond?

Thanks in advance!

Yep, you can buy a tactics ally with Elrond.

He's almost one of the most powerful heroes in the game, with Dain and Gandalf.

Been awhile since I've been over here, but I'll respond to this:

I get that setup on him every game. I've always run Elrond in a fast-draw ally deck. Some players don't care about draw, perhaps. I'm at the bottom of my deck on T 7.

Plenty of search in there too, but he does need a buddy who's out of the gate with no setup, just in case the deck comes at you really quickly. Even Elrond needs a meat-shield sometimes.

These days I'm behind the curve in collecting sets, however, so things may have changed, but there are plenty of solutions for getting those cards on him very quickly. Resourceful is late-game icing.

Cheers

Nope. Still doesn't care: just recycle your discards and draw like mad again -- more often than not, I already have a second copy in hand when this sort of thing goes down.

Pay for it again? Bummer. Fear? Not really ;)

"Response: after a character is healed by another card effect, heal 1 damage on it"

Who is "it"? Elrond or the character?

Thx in advance for any reply!!!

Should be the character - if it was a self-refferential ability, it would have said "Elrond" instead of "it".
