So I guess if two characters both equipped with Keeping Count attack a single enemy and destroy the enemy, they would both get 1 resource token on the card? In other words, the character does not have to fight alone and destroy an enemy on his/her own to get the resource token.
Yes, the trouble is, one character needs to have more tokens on their attachment than the other character's to gain any benefit. So if you got this out turn 1 onto a hero and by turn 5 they had killed 5 guys - he'd have 5 tokens on him. Then you put a second copy onto another character. That character would get +5 attack. To keep in sync, both heroes would have to constantly kill the same number of enemies (or kill the same ones) to keep the STR bonus from diminishing.
I started using this to give combat strength to the other players that don't have to/get to attack as often. I have a hero like Haldir or Legolas do most of the killing. Then when another player's hero needs to attack, they should have a nice bonus from all the stuff Haldir killed.
Limited use for some quests: attach on 2 heroes, kill with one of the, battle quest with the other.
But yes, the best use is how slothgodfather said: player second copy later in the game.
Wow, I'd never considered it for it's combination with the Battle keyword. I'll have to keep that in mind.
