Such a great hero ... it could only be Strider.Sword that was Broken (TWitW), Celebrian's Stone (Core) and Rivendell Bow (TWitW) are the evidences which certify he's the Big Boss.

Team him up with Boromir for a nice 1-2 punch. Boromir blocks, readies, then he and Aragorn attack.
Certainly a five star hero, in my opinion. Beside's being referenced on a lot of cards (as xanferatu mentioned above), he can single-handedly lower your threat by a lot, as much as 30 or more in some games. He's a good team with Glorfindel if you're going a secrecy route, although as of now that theme is still pretty underdeveloped, imo.

I think he deserves a 1 or a 2 for rating. All the mentioned cards are from another spehere, you have to build dual decks, which is not a problem first place, (I usually use 2 or 3 speheres in a deck) but from the Lore sphere there are far more better heroes (all the dwarfs, Denethor, and Bilbo)
He hss a horror high threath. For that threat he should have at least 3 willpower, or 3 defense. But in this form he is not a beast, just a decent hero, who should have 10 or 9 threat to be worth consider playing.
For solo he is amazing. To reduce your threat 20 + points mid to late game makes quests like dol Guldur, return to Mirkwood, more reasonable to win. I like to pair him with Frodo. He also makes playing Gandalf (OHaUH) a possibility to keep him in play for a number of rounds. 5 stars.

If you pair him with the new tactics Eowyn, what would you consider your "starting threat" to be, since lower your threat before you actually start the game? i.e. You have a deck of Loragorn, Merry, and Eowyn. Would it be 27 or 24?

Your starting threat is your combined threat of your heroes.  Eowyn's modifier is part of your setup, but it isn't your Starting Threat.

Am I right in thinking you can use Desperate Alliance to allow a 2nd player to trigger the ability and that still counts as once per game?

I've seen it mentioned that this works with Galdor of the Havens' "once per game" ability, and Red Eowyn explicitly states "once per game for the group", so don't see why this wouldn't work?

Yes, Desperate Alliance lets multiple players benefit from his effect.

This ability to share/reuse once-per-game effects is likely why recent cards have started using "once per game for the group" instead. But unless they errata the old cards, enjoy the combo goodness.

I am newer to the game, and am just getting to this hero card in late 2017 and only deckbuild with what the current adventure pack we're playing offers. So I don't know of any future cards or combos beyond Watcher in the Water. But man, this hero's Sentinel plus Burning Brand equals a highly versatile defender that can really help you or your friends.

very much so.  Burning brand is great, and he is a great target for it.
