The fact that you draw a card means you can easily add it to your deck even if you do not want to cut it for something else. Nice
Finally Spirit Merry can have Wingfoot outside of the Saga quests.
Fast hitch is definitely good, but with Merry it just lets you quest and then use his power once, it doesn't let you use it extra times.
But I am not sure depending on this card as well leaves it a playable combo. Still, I dare to dream...
Sadly this wont work, since revealing encounter cards, is one single step without actions in between.
Merry is a response to an enemy being revealed, so no issue there. Wingfoot is a response to initializing questing, and will ready the hero any time the appropriate card time is revealed. So if you quest with Merry (and name enemy), he will ready when you reveal an enemy due to Wingfoot and so Merry is standing and able to do his response. If another enemy is revealed, Wingfoot still stands him, so he can trigger again.
