I honestly think this card can be a little bit of a trap in some cases, making you pay a resource each time you want to use it in a given phase and keep a good number of resources in reserve to power the effect.

That being said, it shouldn't be ignored with Steward of Gondor on the board. Not only does the extra 2 resources a round help pay for the cost and upkeep of the effect but the addition of the Gondor trait allows you to attach this guy to any hero in the game.

I just wish the effect was a reaction so you could see if you need to trigger it after shadow cards are revealed.

There is an action window after each step of combat, so you can wait until the shadow card has been revealed during step 3 "resolve shadow effect". If the shadow card states "enemy gets +X attack..." it is true that increase is applied immediately but the effect of that application is not felt until step 4 "determine combat damage" and thus you have an action window (p. 18 of rule book)

This card is great for Eleanor in a mono spirit deck. Just toss in a Resourceful and you've got more than enough resources to both deploy cards and pay for the extra defense since it only costs 1 resource to activate multiple defense bonuses if you budget properly. Add Arwin for another +1 defense and you only need to use this card for the heavy hitters.Toss on an Unexpected Courage and you can use her for both card blocking and defense.

Nice catch. :)

Still not my favorite defensive option but that certainly helps it a little, though the difference is pretty Quest dependent.

I wouldn't personally want to load that much onto Eleanor since I'm playing her primarily for her ability. Yes, UC helps, but I think there are better targets for UC. And like I noted on Eleanor's page I like her better outside of secrecy (so no Resourceful). I don't play a lot of mono-spirit though so when I play I usually have other options.

Agree to disagree :)

But you are right in noting that Resourceful is a very effective way of pumping this card if Steward isn't available and you are already wanting to play this on a Gondor or Dunedain hero.

Not 100% sure on the timing. I have three ressources, pay one to trigger the effect. Do I get +2 or +3 defense?

(same for "Gondorian Fire")

I think it is +2, as you have already spent the resource to trigger the ability in the first place. I don't have much time to double-check, though. Someone might want to confirm.

I'd say the same

I also agree.  Timing says that it is checking after you pay the cost, so it is +2.

Thx for clarification!
Continuing on the above, I have 5 resources on a character and 2 of those attached. I decide to use them. How much will my bonus be? I suppose 7. Firstly, I use the first Blood to grant +4, since I'm now left with 4 resources. Then, I use the second Blood to get +3, since 3 resources will be left. Correct? I specifically want to determine whether the first Blood grants +4 (since the time I used it, 4 resources were left in my hero's pool) or +3, since that will be the final total in the pool when I'm done with using the Bloods. I think the former case applies for 4+3=7 total.
Quite sure that you are right. You pay one resource to satisfy conditions and determine the outcome. The action is then finished. Then you handle the next action until finished. They do not interact with each other
