That must be wrong. How the hell can be possible play that location playing more than 2 players. If i play solo, X mean between 1 to 10 (more or less), but that X at 4 players is ridiculous , is too high. At 4 players, with 3 heroes every player, X = 12 with no allies. is too many high, I think.

It is a very dreadful gap!   it is also a victory location, so once you do clear it there isn't threat of it coming back around.  It is a very powerful card, to be sure, but I'd rather have something like this than something that just makes us auto-lose like some treachery cards do.

Thror´s Map or the in-cycle West Road Traveller makes it a permanent 2 threat in the staging area instead.

There are ways around something like this.

There are a lot of ways to build your deck around it. Leadership can easily get 30-40 willpower in late game (with Sword that was Broken, Faramir ally or Visionary Leadership).

Should not be a problem if your deck also has strong questing characters and effects supported by Spirit Cards.  Also, Spirit Glorfindel riding on Asfaloth can help to some extent. Ancestral Knowledge from Khazzard-dum can help to immediately place 4 progress tokens.

Also if you are playing with Dwarf decks, Untroubled by Darkness since the location is Underground and Dain Ironfoot as he can give Dwarf characters +1 Willpower can be some answers.  Therefore I don't really see how hard it is for you to travel Dreadful Gap.

I actually played this quest with a few friends and one was using outlands (i know, i know) and we were over questing by about 60. I'd even made the comment "as long as we don't get something ridiculous, we've got this."  The 4th encounter card was this location.  I hadn't encountered it before and it was hysterical to get hit with it and be delayed another turn.  I also pictured the outlands guys making a bridge like ants so we could cross this dreadful gap!

Another solution for this hole if you are in that much of a hurry is to use Strider's Path, Thror's Map or A Test of Will to return it to the staging area.

Just make sure to have a Thror's Key ready there, so you can Response attach it to Dreadful Gap, blanking the text and auto-exploring it.

Still I am not sure if "returning" to the staging area is the same as "adding" to the staging area.
