One question: I am playing in campaign mode. If I use Mr. Underhill (that has “victory pointâ€), or any other card that has a victory point (like Black Arrow) in the second game of the campaign (A Knife in the Dark), may I put these cards again in my future deck for the third (or next) campaign game (like Flight to the Ford)?
Thx in advance for any reply.....
According to a thread I found on the FFG forums "Discarding or adding a Boon to the Victory Display does not remove the Boon from the Campaign Pool". Also in the Black Riders booklet there is no rule reference that cards in the Victory display follow additional rules. They just stay there for the duration of the scenario, then return to the Campaign Pool and can be used again.
You can read the discussion over there, it puts light over some very interesting aspects of setuping and playing in Campaign mode.
Enjoy your game!
Again, thx in advance for any reply
I have no firm ground to speak from (no rule to refer to) but from my understanding and the basic principle that "if it is not written in the rulebook it is not restricted" I would conclude this:
When you add a card to the Victory display in a normal scenario, it does not change its' owner, it just stays in a specific area for that scenario. When the scenario ends the card is "free" to return to where it originated from - the player's deck. In other words, the Victory display is only a restriction area similar to "remove from the game" effects of other LCGs or the exile mechanic of MtG. When a game ends, those cards are "freed" from there. As the rule inserts of the campaign says nothing on the victory display and only about boons and burdens manipulation, I would assume that there are no additional restrictions - treat a single scenario as usual, only observe hero restrictions of Campaign play.
Also to compare it to another similar card "Leaf-wrapped Lembas" which states:
"Action: Add Leaf-wrapped Lembas to the victory display and remove it from the campaign pool, to ready all heroes in play."
There are a few boon-cards with the above wording. Also note that at the start of the campaign you get to choose between Mr. Underhill and Gildor Ingolorion. Gildor clearly does not leave the campaign pool between scenarios and if Mr. Underhill would be removed then the choice of which boon to bring along would be ridiculously easy.
