Is there a hide test when a Black Rider enters play by this effect, or does the lack of 'reveal' in the wording means no hide test?
I don't know the answer either, so I'm just bumping this thread.
From rules: When an encounter card with the Hide X keyword is revealed....
So no Hide test.
Put directly into play avoids when revealed, surge etc. Yes because Hide only triggers when the card is revealed in this case you do not have to do a hide test.
