So... No problem with taking the eagle from the discard pile to your hand I guess.
Actually this only works on eagles that are in play. Here is a link to a topic discussing that question:

What is the purpose of this card?
Not familiar with that set and what strategies you can make around eagles but my first guess would be to remove damage tokens and playing the ally again with full health
You can use it with
Descendant of Thorondor (THoEM) triggering the in and out of game effect more often. this still means you have to have at ton of tactic ressources to spare.
I'm not very fond of Meneledors Flight so far

Per the rules page 18, Meneldor's Flight could be used on an eagle after it has been declared as a defender (Step 2 of the Combat Phase). Seems to me this could prevent an eagle who would otherwise be killed by an attack from being discarded. It would also nullify the enemy's attack for the round. You would still need to pay to bring the eagle back into play on a future turn, though.
nah, If a defending character leaves play or is removed from combat before damage is assigned, the attack is considered undefended.

Never used it and probably never going to use it...

Better use Born Aloft, which you can also use for Gandalf. The only advantage on Mendelors Flight is, that it is an event.

Other than a way to clear damage and buff Eagles of the Misty Mountains, have people ever found a good use for this card?

Nope.  I've never thought it was worth a slot - especially since it doesn't have the Eagle trait, but even then I would likely not ever use it. Even in a heavy Eagle deck.  None of them have enough HP to worry about and bouncing a Descendant of Thorondor, while potentially effective seems a bit expensive.

Yeah.

I've used it to okay effect to force things to leave play at will (rather then having to wait for them to die or discard through another effect) in order to buff Eagles of the Misty Mountain and (by extension) Support if the Eagles. Probably best on Decedent after he's soaked some archery or taken a hit.

But...it's just so sub-optimal since you could just as easily chump block with them. It's only useful if you need to get them on EotMM outside of combat because you weren't expecting something and needed an extra defense or attack somewhere.
