This gives me a reason to use the Gandalf hero card. With a leadership icon and witht the pipe, staff and tutor type card this is much worth it!

Easily up there with Vilya as one of the best Attachments in the game. And, in my opinion, a much more fun card to play (I’ve always found the Vilya-Engine decks tediously mechanical).

I think I like Cirdan as the target a little better than Hero Gandalf only because of the potential combo with Light of Valinor. But Hero Gandalf brings his own suite of powerful effects to the table and giving him a steady Leadership resource also makes him easier to use.

And, of course, you can’t overlook that this can be played on Hobbit Box Gandalf to huge effect. 7 resources is steep but at the end of it you are left with a 4/5/5/4 character that will apply his 4 Willpower every turn as well as being able to attack and defend. And he’ll stand another character up to attack or defend as well (Gildor+Burning Brand as a defender, for example). And if you can get him into play via Elf-Stone or Timely Aid…it gets crazy. Though you do need to have some threat management options available.
