Spirit Bifur with him and then you don´t have to much worry about your threat level any more
Except that he has been errataed to "after you play a dwarf ally...." spirit Bofur isn´t played he merely "enters play"
But it used to be a popular play.

here is the FAQ. There are a few pretty important errata to cards such as Nori, Zigil Miner, Erebor Battle Master and Expert Treasure Hunter

This guy is the MVP of Shadow and Flame in a leadership-spirit dwarf deck with Dain and Thorin. Consistent threat zero. Add in a King Under the Mountain or similar effect to seal the deal and then march those dwarf allies out one at a time, turn after turn until it's time to drop the hammer.
