I'm not seeing it. Shapers have the largest and best array of programs by and large already. So you're giving up 14 influence to use on hardware, events, etc. for what, exactly?
Agreed, there is just not enough great out-of-faction programs yet, and unless you are spending more than 14 influence on programs, you might as well use Kate (or Exile) instead.

But he'll be one to watch. Once the next deluxe expansion arrives it will probably give Criminals or Anarch a big pile of good programs and he might become a whole lot better.
i guess he lets you play the entire Anarch Virus suite while still being able to bring in one copy of the best ice breakers from Anarch and Crim.

the main problem i see here is MU, with such an emphasis on programs, MU will be at a premium. Djinn is probably a must, as are Akamatsu Mem Chips and Omni-Drives.

either that or find a way to turn trashing programs into a positive thing.

You mean sort of like Freelance Coding Contract, Scavenge and Aesop's Workshop?

1 Influence limit is just weird imo. Why not zero?

Couple him with Monolith and you might have something... just don't ask me how the deck would play, I have no idea XD
Basically, with 1 influence you can get a second copy of Femme or a Stimhack. No good events splashed events, no retrieval run.
I've really taken a liking to The Professor as of late. He may not be the best runner in the game but he certainly is fun. :) The only thing I wish is that he at least had 5 influence. Would help him out alot more...plus you could splash Retrieval Run! :D
Can someone explain the professors "superpower"? Im not really used to this lingo yet

So how does Cerebral Static affect The Professor? Does he just auto lose the game?

Basically it means he can have one copy of every program in his deck (3 copies of Shaper programs).  Any other copies are subject to his Influence limit of 1.

Simply put, it doesn't affect him at all.  The Professor and Andromeda are the two Runners who aren't affected by Cerebral Static because their abilities affect deckbuilding and the starting hand, but have no further effect on the game.  The Professors lack of Influence doesn't matter once the game started.  A deck that was legal to begin with can't suddenly become illegal just because your opponent plays a card, regardless of what that card is.

Anyone who hasn't played this decklist hasn't lived Netrunner. Never had such a fun time in my life. Been meaning to post it here.

I've made a few changes to it over time, and it is really strong, and will be my primary deck in the next Stimhack League. (This isn't my original deck though so don't give me credit)

When "The Liberated Mind" is available, The Professor will definitely see more action too.

What would you Rebirth him into? I might still keep the extra Cache in my deck, because the only real options are Hayley, Kate, or most likely Kit.

Hayley or Kate, depending on the build.

He'll see an uptick, but still won't win like Andromeda or Valencia changing into anyone at all . . . Andromeda with Logos will be the new meta in a few weeks -- typical Netrunner development, (at least of late): take a hugely good Runner (Andromeda) and make it better without requiring any build-around, compromise, or even much thought.

Whatever Criminal deck you have will now be made better simply by rebirthing Andromeda. (Keep in mind that you don't have to choose the new identity prior to using the card, so go ahead and crush it when you need econ by going Andy > Gabe or attack big ICE with Andy > Leela, etc.).

On the upside, there's no possibility the card has been thoroughly tested, as the combinations and interactions are far too complex, so there's room for exploration -- The Professor is certainly a part of that.

The meta will be Valencia in a few weeks, not Andy, cause crim is pretty bad off right now, and Anarch is broken.

But Valencia gives a free credit for running while spoiling your deck composition due to the minimum size - two things WyldCakes Whiz armed with Faust and resource economy doesn't care about. My prediction is on MaxX -> whatever the current match-up demands.

Regarding Shaper Chaos Theory -> Kit/Hayley seems really strong for obvious reasons. Also beware the Andromeda -> Iain archetype that will rise, for Rebirth will be an awesome draw for Andy no matter when/if it is drawn.

I'm just going to conjecture that the greatest opening advantage in the game, statistically (Andromeda), is going to do just fine.

Criminal have plenty of competitive options: the meta simply hasn't caught up to what's on the cards that were released in this latest cycle, mostly because Anarch is so alluring (and 95% of competitive tournament players are highly conservative -- the 5% who explore and experiment will crush it with Andy + Econ, especially against Corps trying to stop Anarch).

There is still nothing wrong with going faster than the Corp, but I agree with Valdemart that Andy > Iain is going to be an effective off-axis thing, especially with the right Anarch cards splashed in there.

At any rate, let's table this discussion until we get the appropriate card (yes, I know, I started the tangent).
