that doesnt feel very good
To be honest I don't think any of the Genesis cycle ID's are as strong as the Core, so I don't know what people were expecting.
It's not designed to combo SE though. It's designed to fast advance.
Not a fan of either. <3 Kate.
The increased hand size doesn't seem as useful as the recurring credits for traces. One point for Making News.
12 influence? That kills it, at least for me.
Really funny flavor text though.
So it's not just that the agenda density is the same, it's that you get to be more selective with your agendas.
The 12 influence is a hit, but you're deck is smaller so your more likely to get the cards you're spending the influence on.
it's not strictly better than core NBN, but it lets you build a very different style deck, which IMHO is what identities should do, encourage different deck styles within a faction.
Yes, but then you're running 12 agendas. That's a lot even for 49 card decks. But I see your point. This identity would probably be best for a fast-advance strategy, which lessens the impact of the 12 influence, since you wouldn't need much OOF to make your strategy work anyway.
I agree. though instead of "not strictly better" I'd say "not strictly worse"
As soon you hit that Astro, you can safely score any agenda you draw. Now it can be done more consistently.
PS: that local deck is a core deck (we only have core in Chinese here, live in China). And it won like 90% of the matchs it had, really awesome deck.
First of all, it's all about manipulating chance. Straight off the bat, the +1 hand size allows you to drop the chance of accessing a single agenda from 1/5 to 1/6. Not terribly groundbreaking, but now with The World is Yours the HQ becomes a bit safer as a hidey hole. Next, let's assume a 44 card deck. I'm routinely running the Agenda pattern discussed above (2x3pt. + 3x2pt. + 3x2pt.). Now, while the difference between a 8/44 and 9/49 chance to draw agenda is superficial at best, we mustn't forget the point spread pattern. With just 2 three-pointers, the runner will often be stuck at 6 points (which means 4 successful steals are required to win). Not so for NBN because we can pack Project Beale as a de facto three pointer, meaning if we go toe to toe with the runner, we only have to score 1 less agenda to win.
A lot of people instinctively use the 12 influence on 3x Scorched Earth. It just seems like a natural fit, right? I went a different way and instead focused on getting the off-faction moneymakers - 3x Beanstalk 3x Greel Level Clearance 3x Adonis Campaign. I think big money + fast advance suits this identity better, as you need the extra $ for traces because you cannot rely on free credits enymore. Sure, schorching is nice, but the card is so big, you'd be hard pressed an un-carapaced runner who claims to be playing serious. On the other hand, when the runner sees that you do not have the influence to pack it, he may go lenient on the tags, forgetting that Closed Accounts and Psychographics can hurt him just as much.
Another good option to spend influence points on could well be Snares. And when you have snares, nothing says stay offa mah HQ better than a 3-pack of Archived memories. Which, incidentally, go quite well with Operations-based economy. Not something you would expect out of NBN, which is just the point. Closed Accounts after a Snare is just about the most evil thing I can imagine.
And that's where you know that The world is yours Chico, with everything in it.
