It's a virus, searchable and hostable with djinn, chargeable with grimoire and Surge, and it's good economy for making sabotage runs on the hand.
It's possible to continue HQ runs even after you blow it up, if you have personal workshop.
A nice touch is that you can use it with sneakdoor beta to charge the creds and spend them to trash cards, if any. Or spend them to vamp the living daylights out of corporate treasury.
