The only card of the Data Pack with a Faction Cost 1!

Pretty awesome early game card for NBN right now.
A gamble, but a damn good one, I'd say. Think I'll use it quite often out of faction.

Too Much Information - clever for the media conglomerate.
Am I the only one thinking this could/would be far too costly for the Corp? Have to spend in order to make sure you succeed, don't spend and you don't get to end the run and you have to spend in order to rez again. Runner has a choice of spending, Corp doesn't (or well, they do, but not spending just lets them sit on an unrezzed useless piece of Ice).

Maybe I'm missing something here.
Every time I see this card I want to yell "timmy" like the South Park character. And yes I know what TMI stands for.

Yeah, but NBN has two free, reusable creds it can use solely for traces, so it really has a base trace of 4, unless the runner has link boosting stuff.
I forsee link boosting becoming much more common this cycle with its increase on the emphasis of traces which will make it more costly for corps to get successful traces.

Agreed, for NBN it's different, but I don't see this being very useful as out of faction Ice.
This seems good for a Wieland deck because it gives a trace and ends the run. Adds 1 more option for scorched earth.
But the trace doesn't give a tag, so how does it help scorched earth?

If this card did give a tag when first rezzed I don't think this discussion would have happened.
RULE POST
Ruling: If trace fails TMI can be rezzed again during the same rez window.

Having used this in a few games and run against it, its not good, simply the runner gets to calculate how much to spend passing it and if they want to just up the link to derezz it, granted the corp can try again, but that's then 6 creds spent plus any spent on the trace, really you need to spend enough on the trace so the runner can't win, that makes this expensive to rez I'd rather drop it and put in wall of static.
There's a subtle but important advantage to this card: it can't be broken by Yog.0.

As is the case with most barriers?

D'oh! Not sure what I was thinking when I posted that.

I originally was not inclined to like this card, but I think it's slowly growing on me. If you rez it (cost 3) and then Trace2, boost by 2 from NBN's identity, and the Runner pays 4 to defeat it, you come out ahead (well, depending on how much you value the recurring credits). If the Runner has any Link, though, it gets very uneconomical very quickly - and giving it a second shot at a rez is likewise not favorable once your identity credits are gone.

Where would it be useful? I might use it as the default ice on HQ or R&D during the first couple of turns - if the Runner takes a blind run, you either put a really big wall up in front of the Runner or cash her out of 4 credits at a cost to yourself of 3, and either way that's a favorable result early in the game.

The real question, though: is it better than Wall of Static? Not sure on that one.
Trading three for four with the runner isn't actually that good. Especially when it doesn't stop the runner. Also TMI hates Compromised Employee. A lot.
This doesn't seem like a bad card to me. Since rezzing doesn't have to happen only during a run, it's like having a slightly more expensive Sea Source card that can become a barrier afterwards. Use it when the runner is out of credits and you can guarantee the tag, and then start hitting the resources they thought were safe.
1. The trace on TMI does not give a tag.
2. ICE can only be rezzed when approached during a run, unless you have a special card effect (like Amazon Industrial Zone).
Actually, by now I think it's one of the worst ice in the game.

Wow, I missed that. If it gave a tag it would be worth it, but without? Yeah, this is kind of bad.
You could have ChiLo in the same server, which would cause the Runner to get a tag.
This card will be going into a deck with City Surveillance, Making News and Closed Accounts.

If you can close the runners accounts, both TMI and city surveillance become playable. They both need more support, but an NBN that shuts down the runners economy is a fantastic new deck archetype!
Place an RSVP in front. That ought to make it a sure thing.
