It's a bit situational, but very reliable against the Zodiac ICE. (Taurus, Sagittarius, Gemini, Virgo)
Additional ICE it works well against: Ichi 2.0, Gutenberg, Checkpoint
Yeah, it's a bit of an off-axis Sentry breaker, with the added bonus that it'll bust the odd Code Gate. It's certainly awkward to use, but then, so are most of the standard Killers.
It wants to work in a deck with Sharpshooter and Deus X, as a kind of spread-out anti-sentry approach; alas, that's awfully janky and cumbersome.
It needs some kind of Kit-like power to go with it: "The first piece of ICE you encounter this turn gains 'Tracer.'"
i think it's actually pretty terrible against Gutenberg: 5c to prevent one tag? i'd rather just take the time to clear it, even against Sync
even against one not on R&D, it's still 3c to avoid 1 tag, which is only slightly better than just removing it normally, only you don't have to install this program to do that.
5c to get through Shinobi and 4c for Assassin will be nice, though, once Surveillance Sweep reverses the math on all of those mid-run traces.
