Maybe useful for a new all-programs archetype for The Professor, Exile or Kate? But sooo expensive, really hard to make it viable.
When I look at this card, I feel like the opportunity cost (have to actually have 3 programs you need in your hand, each costing at least 4 cred) is more of a problem than just the cred cost. Don't think Netrunner has enough viable card draw and handsize expansion to make this work just yet... could be wrong though (shapers with Public Sympathy, Borrowed Satellite and Wyldside? :D).
Kate+modded+inside man = 6 discount...you pay 12 creds and install 3 programs costing 8-10...you get 3 click, 3 MU for the future, a little protection and the programs discount... I think it can be viable...
It's the setup time.... I'd love to see a deck running this be competitive, but at the moment I'm not sure how...
This card is sooooooo bad. You have to have a **** ton of cash AND the programs you want to install in your hand. This card completely retarded, this is impossible to use in any competitive deck.

Well a lot of cards are not that usefull competitively... but this card is hard to use even in a casual deck. I have to build a deck that uses it just because it is that overpriced and hard to get but it will be tricky...
Honestly I think this needs to have another persitent effect to be useful + 3 Memory is just not enough.
What about an Andromeda deck? Just follow me through on this. Have the usual stack for a strong opening economy (sure gambit, easy mark, kati jones), relying on events in order to run without icebreakers until absolutely needed, add a Mr. Li to perfectly control what cards you need in hand (more events to pressure or programs for monolith) and then drop the console in the late game when Andromeda starts to drops off.

Admittedly, this cuts out half of monolith's strength - you won't have that many programs to need the extra memory and you also won't have extra programs in hand to discard for protection.

could be fun though it might only stand half a chance in a Mac deck
No, just...no.
This is slow as molassus. People are going to try to make it work and they will fail. Most of them miserably. Worst runner card in the set by a landslide.

paradox, I'm certainly not the one to do it, but I REALLY want to see someone prove you wrong. Just because you can't see a way to make this work doesn't mean there isn't one.

I know. But So far I have seen no one who has seen a way and actually had decent results. Mayb someday there will be a meta that is a lot slower than the current one, but right now this card has everything against it.
This could be viable if there was a Test run for console/hardware.

I can see a future meta that gives you some kind of bonus for having a crazy expenisve card in play. Like, trash a card (installed? from your grip?) and get some bonus according to how expensive it was.

I could see Monolith being worth it if it let you tutor for 3 programs instead of needing them to be in your grip. That would make good sense to me.

That might be interesting, an effect like trash a hardware and gain credits equal to its cost. The deck would probably still be too slow but at least it would be experiment able.
