As mentioned elsewhere, I've been tooling around with a Valencia deck that aims to pressure HQ. It uses a lot of bad pub based cards including blackmail, eater, keyhole, singularity, hemorrhage, utopia and hades shards, wanton destruction, etc. Still working the kinks out, but it's a basically workable engine.
The powerful thing about Valencia is that if you set up your deck with the intent to run multiple times per turn, and assuming the Corp does not have a way to get rid of bad pub, you get a strong and flexible econ boost. If you run four times, you get $4 for free for the purposes of running. Obviously. It might be easy to dismiss this trickle, but if you are aggressive it adds up to a lot of free $ over the course of a typical game. This is where Valencia shines, for me; aggressive econ pressure. The trick is to translate that into a game winning advantage.
Reina and Whizzard also are oriented towards aggressive econ pressure. Valencia's face ability is IMO just better than Reina's face ability; balanced by Reina's 1 link and standard card min / inf. Whizzard's flat $3 recurring only to trash requires less work to turn on, but Valencia can use her bad pub money for other things during the run, and can leverage Blackmail from turn 1.
To make Valenica work, I think playing her like a Criminal is essential. Just the bare minimum rig to avoid faceplanting, and run centrals. Leave remotes alone to avoid rezing ice, and use Blackmail to get in when needed. Maybe some expose to avoid wasting Blackmail. Same Old Thing to recur Blackmail. The Dirtbag Iain Sterling (used Frame Job to force bad pub, then flogged Blackmail) deck showed that this can be very effective, and Valencia dispenses with the awkward overhead of needing Frame Job to enable it.
Anyway, I'm only a couple of games deep with the ID, but having fun with it. The main downside of course is that the Corp can get rid of bad pub if they tech for it. And if bad pub becomes more of a thing, more decks will tech for it. So, definitely vulnerable to a shifting meta.
EDIT: 4/6/2015: Valencia is quickly becoming my favorite Anarch, competing with Noise for that dubious honor. I've been able to play a handful more games with her over the past weeks and the common theme is I really feel like I'm sticking it to the corporation. While Noise likes to sit back and mill, just causing mayhem as a side effect of his existence, Valencia attacks the corporation via bad pub shenanigans and gets all up in their "biznis". Having a lot of fun with her.
I'm with you on this - definitely lends itself to running early and often. I've been wanting to build a deck with her and haven't gotten around to it.
The real question is, if you have other ways to give more bad publicity, how much other economy do you really need?
Also remember this means that NAPD contract requires 5 to advance, which puts it outside of viable fast advance territory.
And if the corps have to start sticking cards in their deck to get rid of Bad Publicity is that really such a bad thing? Are there any tournament runner decks out there that don't have several slots filled up with Plascrete?
I want to be sure about how many influence has Valencia Estevez to be spent. 15 points like anyone can see in the card or 9 points only, because the deckbuilder in this website shows?
It properly adjusts your maximum influence when including cards from the NAPD Most Wanted List.
