I'm still waiting to hear a ruling on the lack of uniqueness and clarity on whether "Limit 1 console per player" means "1 TYPE of console" or "1 INSTANCE of console".

We've all always assumed it is one instance, but as previous consoles have all (to the best of my knowledge) also been unique it has thus far not been a thing that needed clarity.

I doubt it will turn out this way, but if the ruling were that it is 1 type of console, then it opens the door to play two or three of these simultaneously for good +link at a reasonable price.

I would say "no" to multiples active. The rules already cover it, irrespective of uniqueness:

"The Runner can only have one piece of hardware with the console subtype installed at a time, as listed in the text box of these cards" (Rulebook, page 11).

“Limit 1 console per player.”

"This restriction refers only to active consoles. A player can have multiple copies of a console, and even different consoles, in his or her deck.

The limit of 1 console per player prevents the Runner from installing a second console, even if the Runner wishes to trash the first" (FAQ).

In other words, in order to get a new console on the table, you first have to trash your active console through some separate process, like Aesop's -- i.e. installing a second console does not auto-trash an active console: you have to rid yourself of it prior to install. This is unusual.

The console subtype already limits your options beyond uniqueness, which currently has zero bearing on the card. In future, if we get a card that interacts with unique or non-unique cards in a specific way, this will matter. Currently, it does not.

Lucas' response to this question was that it was simply for flavor purposes.  All other consoles, I assume, are one-of-a-kind pieces of hardware specifically built/designed/tinkered with by their respective owners (Grimoire for Whizzard, Turntable for Noise, Comet for Hayley, etc.).  Forger... is not that.  Presumably, many criminals (and others?) would have this or something very similar.  It is not one-of-a-kind, and so, not unique.  This, however, does nothing to the restrictions placed in the rules about consoles, as noted above.

This console was a nasty surprise for my opponent, who tried to pull the old "forfeit Posted Bounty and scorch" -trick. I just avoided the first try. Too bad I didn't get another console fast enough for the second try to fry me. Also it suited my thematic criminal deck perfectly.
