This plus some HQ interfaces is kind of something, but very impractical. Also, dangerous. I would avoid it.
Could be renamed "Suicide by Personal Evolution," which is snappy.
Or you could just, you know, not install it against PE?
Three of these combined with HQ Interfaces let you see pretty much the whole of the corp's hand if they manage to score. Great against any deck that isn't running HQ traps or PE (and we're not seeing a huge amount of PE at the moment anyway). Even just clearing out Caprice or Batty from HQ 'en masse' is powerful.
Combine this, also, with Fisk Investment Seminar coming at the end of the cycle, I think it could be pretty powerful.
But let's be honest: there aren't any other Jinteki identities that this will be particularly useful against either. It telegraphs to the Corp to start holding those Shocks and Shi.Kyus and Snares in HQ, and the Corp has the initiative on the trigger.
If it ever does become a thing, Gang Sign is the 20th legal target for Foxfire . . .
If you are keeping the Corp poor, how is it scoring agendas in the first place? If the Corp is poor, you can walk into HQ or any remote pretty much at will, so what is Gang Sign adding?
Why is the Corp scoring agendas with a vulnerable hand and Gang Sign on the table? The Corp knows what it's holding, and PE can sit on advanced cards, even unprotected ones. If you are combining expose effects with economy pressure, Gang Sign isn't adding much.
How are you avoiding the Shocks and the Fetal AIs, or is this PE player really still only relying on Snare? If the Corp is relying on Snare, the economy pressure has already won the game, without any need for Gang Sign. Are you multi-accessing, or just seeing a few extra cards per game?
If PE is scoring agendas, what are you doing about the Ronin it is also scoring?
If the Corp is feeding you one-point agendas out of hand, how's it going with Philotic Entanglement?
If Gang Sign is having a significant effect, and you're not having to solve these other problems, you'd want to test it against a player who is a little more capable and experienced, because some things aren't adding up here.
Well, he did say he is playing as Leela, so presumably Ronin is being bounced back to HQ. He also said that PE is an issue, however Snares in particular are not a major concern. You seem to have extrapolated a lot from a couple of brief statements.
I've merely asked questions about how this works against actual effective PE decks. Again, if Leela knows she's loading a Ronin, and not a Fetal AI, back into HQ, she's now effectively exposing remotes and keeping the Corp poor. How does Gang Sign help, since the Corp isn't scoring agendas in this scenario?
Fair enough, and thanks for the response. I understand what you are doing, but a canny PE player has plenty of options here (against Gang Sign) , and I wouldn't expect experienced PE players either to rush agendas or to do you a favor and score Fetal AI.
But, I understand why you're winning: reliable expose effects, economy destruction, and Turntable can do that to PE without additional help, and I'm not convinced that Gang Sign / HQ Interface is adding anything but a lot of risk to an otherwise sure win. You might be winning more quickly by taking the additional risk, but a cash-poor PE under the harsh eye of multiple expose effects -- and Turntable -- is already dead.
