Worst case scenario: install, click, click to net $2. Runner runs and trashes for a click and $2. Decent trade; even better in Gagarin.
Best case scenario: runner doesn't bother to trash it and you've got a Magnum Opus dressed up in Weyland green.
Of course, the low trash cost makes R&D more porous, and the click intensiveness of it will be a tempo hit, but it isn't unusual for me at least when playing Weyland to have turns where I'm just putting together a kill combo or building up ice or waiting for the Runner to screw up so that I can close the game out, and having a click for $2 option would be just fine.
So, yeah, my initial thoughts are that it isn't setting the world on fire but it is probably a good asset econ tool for certain decks. Any Weyland deck still running Melange should obviously consider a direct swap. Any Weyland deck using Gila Hands might consider this instead. Etc.
Considering Private Contracts needs 3 to rez, can only be used 7 times (IF not trashed) and has the same click to credit ratio, this is a vastly superior version of it. I never include the Contracts anymore in my Weyland decks, the Investors are all that I need.
If we're talking trash costs (i.e. the whole picture), this is not vastly superior to Private Contracts, which trashes at 5.
Capital Investors has a 1-credit advantage from the time it is played through the first 7 clicks. You'll only get more than 7 clicks (or even that many) if you've invested in protecting it, as it is trivial to trash. You'd want to include the protection investment into the calculation.
It's already been brought up that it makes R&D more porous, but the only way it's actually getting "ahead" of Private Contracts is if the Runner is feeling sleepy.
