Hello, Excalibur, let me introduce you to Replicating Perfection. Let me sidestep your uniqueness with other Grail ICE in play while you sit in my hand. I think I love you.

No subtype eh? Shame I don't get to add other subroutines to it.

So, I took apart my Grail Foundry deck a couple of weeks ago. I was just never satisfied with it, even when it worked "perfectly". It was neither fun to play or to play against, but also the grail suite is just too fiddly for my tastes, and the overal average strength of the ice too low for the cost. Basically, the rez costs are set assuming extra subroutines, but it doesn't always work out that way if you happen to have 1 or 0 in hand...especially in the early game. Conversely once you do get the pieces in hand it puts a lot of squeeze on HQ and causes clumping or forced play-or-discard scenarios.

I don't think this card would have materially changed that.

However, I've seen some people throwing around the idea of RP Grail leveraging this card in hand via grail ice on centrals (EDIT: and looking up a bit, Meadbeard talked about it here too) and that's kind of compelling. The clumsiness and IMO exorbitant inf cost of the grail set might just be worth it to synergize Excalibur with RP's face ability.

Baring that, this might be ok as a one or two of in other decks not running grail in general as a piece of utility ice. It could be really annoying on archives vs Security Testing for instance.
