Jinteki just became immune to Yogsuckersite decks. Woot!
This. Is. Amazing.
Eeek!*
*Holy ****! And only one influence!!
Thanks to its only 1 influence, this can shift the meta. Torch's turn to shine ?
What are the best ways to deal with this for Anarch and Criminal? Anarch can Knight it, Criminal can use cerberus (sort of, 4 times for 3 creds each time) or femme... Am I missing any other decent ways to deal with this?
Just to throw something crazy in the mix.
Examples?
So, anarchs now NEED to spend at least 2 inf to splash something for code gates (Knight doesn't work against Blue Sun). Interesting. This is actually a huge deal, because Anarchs were already so strapped for influence. Also, in my original post, I forgot about passport for criminals. That is actually a great way to deal with it.
If one NEEDS to put everything into a deck that deals best with all possible problems then you will run out of deckspace pretty fast
Haha, if you aren't ready for Lotus you're gonna have a bad time. A quick look at tournament winning decklists shows that more than half of them play Lotus. Blue Sun, which IMO is going to dominate the metagame, absolutely loves Lotus. One $5 ice to permanently protect R&D against Anarchs who aren't splashing something for it? Yes please! I draw a second one, bam, there goes HQ. You cannot afford to let Blue Sun to lock you out for so cheap. I, for one, am going to play 3 Lotus in Blue Sun, and I'm going to laugh in the face of any Anarch who isn't spending at least 2 influence splashing something to deal with it, and I would imagine that a lot of other Blue Sun players will have the same idea.
I suppose, though, that you could use Crypsis if you REALLY want to save influence, but spending $5 and a click every time you want to get through a Blue Sun Lotus seems pretty bad. Noise mill doesn't mind so much, though.
(The reason I keep talking about Blue Sun is because you can't Femme or Knight a Blue Sun Lotus, which makes it especially potent. Also, Blue Sun is bananas, so the runner needs to watch out for anything that is good for them)
Well if you´re intend on looking at the past winning decklists then you´re already kind of behind.
Good luck with that (nono really, I mean it)
You're a funny guy, Nerdmeister. A couple things with that comment. First of all, my comment about past winning decklists was specifically to show the popularity of Lotus in real terms. Are you implying that you think that Lotus is going to decline in popularity? Because if that is what you are implying, I believe you are sadly mistaken. If you could show me a real reason as to why you think that, I could get on board, but there are simply no new runner cards that make Lotus less viable, and if anything the new corp cards make it MORE viable. I mean, if you want I can come back here in a month with stats on tournament winning decklists between now and then, but I think we both know that is unnecessary. Second of all, until you actually address my concerns with regard to Blue Sun, I'm really not too interested in what you have to say.
Can be lowered the strength of the Lotus Field by an Ice Carver?
I know the question could seem obvious or stupid, but I wanna be pretty sure about that. I do that question, because the Ice Carver's effect is so general "All ice...".
Anyway Lotus Field is an awesome ice against Datasucker or Parasite decks.
I don't know of any official ruling on it, but I'm pretty sure Lotus Field is carefully worded to indicate that it is NOT affected by Ice Carver. Ice Carver says strength is lowered, Lotus Field says it cannot be lowered. Lotus Field wins.
Again, that's just my understanding / opinion and I could be wrong, but I would be surprised if I were.
In an exception-based rule system, you typically use the narrowest exception; e.g. Ice Carver states an exception to the rules -- lower the strength of all ICE -- but Lotus Field states an exception that is necessarily predicated on the ability to lower the strength of ICE: i.e. it is narrower, since it refers only to the ability to lower the strength of ICE in the first place.
Lotus Field, by rule, is not "all ICE;" it's Lotus Field, and it states its exception to a broader exception right on the card.
More simply; in Netrunner (and several other games, but always check the rules) 'cannot' effects take precedence over 'can' or even 'must' effects.
