Why not use Forged Activation Orders instead?
Same Old Thing recycles Events.
Not a big fan of this card.
Why not run both? if you FAO another piece of ICE beforehand, you can try and coax the Corp into spending money so that they can't afford to rez the Ice in your Pawn server. Although I grant you that influence could well start becoming an issue (depending how many of each card you use, we could be looking at up to 12 inf spent just on these cards - yikes!)
I figure I'll test drive this anyway and see how I get on with it. I'm already looking at Emergency Shutdown and FAO as obvious splashes, but this might be an unexpected trick to pull out as well/instead.
Well yes, but then it suddenly is the outermost ICE, which could very well be a useful thing to cause, if you're Kit or are running Inside Jobs.
The only issue I have with this card is the unfortunate fact that it doesn't combo with Crescentus. As it is, it only sort-of combos with Snitch.
This is a long term credit drain for the corp. every time you walk up to unrezzed ice they face a passive threat. Rez it or potentially lose it. the most efficient option when faced with false echo is to rez your ice. Program heavy decks that run extra memory will get a whole lot of milage from this card.
Paper: but... you trash it? Not much of a threat.
I was thinking maybe SMC or CC to suprise bounce an ice but it seems like there's no paid abilities window where I can search it up.
While you can respond to the corp rezzing ice, you can't respond to the corp NOT rezzing ice with paid abilities (such as searching for a False Echo).
Paper's post was made almost a year and a half ago. And while I don't agree with his post, I would think that it is probably not worth it (IMO) to reanimate the corpse of his assertion by calling him out for a response. Instead, given the time lapse, perhaps a more broadly worded post that just explained the timing window limitations involved in the use of this card and thus reduce its playability would be more practical?
