best guess is that it is the shield symbol witch means it can be discarded from your hand to shield an attack
"attacks can be shielded by discarding a card with shield icons from your hand to reduce the damage dealt to your unit"
also default draw/resources are 2/4 per turn + command struggle/battle effects
"Once all battles are complete, each player receives four resources and draws two cards"
Yes but the signature are yellow and others are blue. Meaning the other is probably the loyal cards that cannot go out of faction. Plus I can't see every signature squad card being a shield card too.
Yes I don't believe we discussed card draw and resources other than during planets discussion. But was aware of that.
