Will be interesting to see how the different speeder decks posted turn out in pratice, I have some doubts about Preparation for Battle without additional ways to get shielding but please post how it turns out for you!
I ran a deck that was similar to this and the speeder tanks just wreck face if you have hoth operations out. winning the edge all day long and focusing their stuff is always fun.

The speeder tanks are good, but the other cards in that pod tend to be on the "I don't want to draw these and if I do they are edge fodder" list.
I think the prep for battle is a pretty good add in speeder decks. the speeders themselves are very solid, and with walkers out they essentially have 2 tactics and 1 unit damage. I even like the hoth scout. perfect for getting a much needed shield out when the situation calls for it. plus is has a resource as well. granted both the scout and tauntaun are susceptible to force chokes but that's just with how prevalent Sith control is at the moment.

for more shields in the deck, the sensors are placed is a decent add. in a hoth deck, the objective is nice, as is that amazing enhancement echo base. first marker is actually pretty good too.

I will admit that the the event that gives characters a shield is worthless in this deck but look on the bright side, a two force icon edge card aint to bad.

Playtested a variant of this (minus defense of yavin 4 and hold the line, added in 2 sensors are placed) and was playing it a bit inconsistently. I think this could be good if I knew what I was doing better. perhaps that will come with time/familiarity with the deck and what it can do.

What if you swapped The Defense of Yavin 4 for Draw Their Fire? This would give you the Fleet Command Center, which would aid in your shield distribution, not to mention 3 resources. X-Wing Escort and Heroic sacrifice always mess things up a bit for an Imperial Navy vehicle deck. Then Admiral Ackbar could either be heavy edge fodder or a nice little twist in any battle.

Defense of Yavin may not be too good to drop, but it is too good to swap for Draw their fire, simply for the objective ability and Rebel Assault. I'm preaching a gospel of Last Defense of Hoth. Maybe drop 1 Prep for it.

The odds of actually getting the Defense of Yavin 4 are slim, that and dropping a Prep for Battle would remove 2 speeders from the deck and impact the usefulness of Hoth Operations. The ability of Defense of Yavin 4 requires you to discard a card to lower the cost by 1 to a min of 1. Most of the vehicles in his deck cost 2, not much savings. Rouge 2's ability gives it a ton of potential edge enabled objective damage, based on how many speeders are in play, up to 9 just for that one unit. Plus the shielding bonus that prep for battle gives you for a mid to late game victory, you will all of the shield generating card effects you can get.

I don't think you should be dropping Defense of Yavin 4 from the deck. It has a resource, as well as Rebel Assault. Red 2, while not a speeder, is amazing and I hear Y-wing is a great card. While the objective doesn't necessarily help with the Hoth theme, I think you lose way too much by cutting it out. I think if you are playing speeders I think the following is the core of the deck:

    2 Preparation for battle
    2 attack pattern delta
    2 defense of yavin
    2 hoth operations

The last two slots are up in the air. Prepare for evac is solid as the objective is good and the ywings protect your units. Sensors are in place is so-so. The only standouts in that set are the enhancements. I've tried Fleeing from the Empire as it has synergy with preparation for battle and gives it combo potential and a ToF. Mobilize the Squadrons was crap except for the objective and I've even tried Across the Anoat Sector just because APD puts them in play. I think in reality the last set depends A LOT on your meta.
