Took this list to a surprising 3-0 finish at our LGS's first tournament.

An elite Rey and Ackbar give three sides of random discard that provide an advantage in tempo. This allows our dice pool to be set up through focus sides on Ackbar, Padawan and multiple upgrades to provide large melee damage swings. Ackbar usually becomes the primary target due to his static ability damage. This leaves Rey and Padawan safe to equip and activate, while leaving the opponent with less "safe" opportunities to discard for re-rolls, thus, gaining tempo. Other pieces that keep us ahead are Holdout Blaster with Rey and Hit and Run with Ackbar. Lastly, with the amount of discard and upgrade elements in the deck, a single Patience is included to close out the game.
Since seeing this deck, I've been playing around with my own version of it. Unfortunately, I'm new to the game so I'm probably not very efficient in doing so.
When you built this, is your goal to use the discards in first and foremost or are they more of a control element to allow Rey and the Padawan to do damage?
Some alterations I've made: I switched out the Temple as I found that through discards and my opponent choosing not to use all his cards to avoid Ackbar, he was more likely to claim the Jedi Temple.
I've also tossed in the DH-17 to get a cheap (and sometimes free )weapon upgrade on the Padawan or Rey to be overwritten if necessary.
