Are we allowed to count modifier dice as "showing melee damage"?
Why not? It *is* showing said symbol isn't it?
Weird card this. It fits badly with existing mill deck possibilities, so I guess we're stuck with using it as an interference effect for melee heavy decks (e.g. Vaderx2+Raider). Hardly seems worth playing discard effects if not aiming for mill though.
It can be useful to get cards out of your opponent's hand before they can play their dice mitigation or just to disrupt their plans. Also, it's fun to do with some melee dice in a deck that includes Admiral Ackbar LOL!
This card pairs well with an elite Count Dooku. It can proc on a lot of modified sides too, like Force Training and On the Hunt. As long as you get your opponent to discard 2+, or whatever they have remaining in their hand, it's a good value for 0 resources.
As mentioned, eDooku / eJabba is the best place for this card currently as it goes with the theme of the deck quite nicely. Given you're probably running 1x Kylo's Saber + Force Training/Lightsaber + On The Hunt, along with his 2 base dice, it's certainly possible to get the 2 cards discarded needed for this to provide a return on investment.
Having said that, it could be interesting in a Padme double Padawan deck given their high number of melee sides and access to Rey's Staff, as well as Padme's inherent lack of hand discard.
