So good. Important to note that if you use its special, you can turn another die to its special and immediately resolve it in the same action. Using effects to control the Datapad die might not seem like a priority, but players will figure it out after they get whacked by this a couple of times.
Agreed, people were trading these away like crazy early. I ended up with 6-8 of them. I use them in almost every deck, great turn 1 play.
So you can use datapad to turn Cunning to it's special and use it's special all in one action.
Yes, I've seen this used to great effect with Poe Dameron as well. If you can get two datapads on him he now has two extra dice that can help set up his special ability. It makes him much more consistent and you can chain them to be in one action.
There are a couple oddities where a die may change to it's special side and not be used in the same action. Each die can only be used once per action, so if you use Black one and re-roll it to the special side, you'll have to wait until your next action to use that die again, but with datapad and cunning, it works fine
Datapad is probably the best neutral rare in the game, also being on of the better rates in the game (top 5 easy). It offers resources and sneaky combo potential. Especially now with the ruling that a die side doesn't have to be available at the time you declare dice resolutions, datapad turns blanks into special faces which deal damage or get you field advantage fast. I love this card because its cheap, efficient and heavily underrated.
Indeed what kind of a card it is ! Kinda one of the best rare equipment so far .
Easily an auto-include for decks looking to maximize their special side usage. Funny how it started out as an undesired rare until recently.
While I can't disagree with any of these comments, it's got to be said that there's only 1 in 6 on getting the special here, and two of the three resource faces are needing another resource icon to work. That limits this upgrades role to character combos that both have specials worth triggering AND a couple of resource faces around, like Padme + 2 Hired Guns, or Ackbar or Han decks.
I think without adequate resource icons, this card is just too inconsistent to be worth using.
