Theme Solo
A very solid and reliable solo deck built around Silvans entering and leaving play.
Hero ()
Order by: NameTypeCost
Total Cards: 0
I've recently been playing around with the new Silvan synergy and I've settled on this deck, which seems very solid and has the bonus that it is also strong in theme. There are a few tweaks here and there that I make to suit particular quests but it's holding up very well against the quests I've played through so far.
It's strength seems to be in its versatility, and there are no real "must have" cards that make it work. It starts out as a good deck that only gets better and better as you play more cards to the table. Of course, I'm a bit biased because its my deck...
Cards to look for in your opening hand are O Lorien and a Wandering Ent. The Ents provide great versatility with good staying power and are best questing in the early stages of a game, switching to more combat orientated roles later on. Once O Lorien is in play, resources no longer seem a problem. Most allies can be played for 2 or less resources (or cheated in for free), and all the attachments and events are very cheap at 0 or 1 cost.
Henamarth allows me to know what is coming off the encounter deck, and gives me 100% hit rate on Wingfoot, which obviously goes on Haldir.
Most of the defending should be done by Rossiel or Celeborn, the former best left to the task once she has her +2 DEF activated. Defenders of the Naith serve as back up defenders when needed. Putting Naith Guides into play or attaching Cram also provides Action Advantage.
Rossiel usually quests, but can be held back for defence if her boosted stats calls for it. Silvan Trackers can heal any damage.
A Galadhrim Minstrel will usually be my choice for pullins a Silvan back into my hand after they have quested. Their ability to drag those important events from your deck cannot be overstated.
Haldir is scary once he has a Dunedain Mark or two on him. A single copy of Ranger Bow is included for those instances where he can't damage anything. A puny 1 damage that overrides defence is better than nothing
All the allies in this deck are Silvans except Gandalf and the Ents so the Silvan Trackers provide a ridiculous amount of passive healing.
Gandalf is used for card draw or threat reduction, depending on the situation. Sneak Attack provides maximum uses out of him.
If you are up against enemy heavy quests that are light on locations, consider cutting a couple of cards to sub in two copies of Ranger Spikes for more staging area control.
I have consistently beaten several quests with this deck, and I'm now working my way through the "Ringmaker" cycle. Journey to Rhosgobel and The Morgul Vale seemed to cause it major problems, but here's an update... I finally tried Escape from Dol Guldur solo (choosing Mirlonde as the captured Hero) and beat it first time out!
Recent Changes:-
Major hero change... Mirlonde out, Rossiel in. Slightly higher starting threat, but I couldn't resist trying out this new mechanic.
Obviously most changes reflect the change in hero. 3 copies each of None Return and Leave no Trace to allow us to fill up the victory display with cards that will trigger Rossiel's stat boosts.
I'm loathe to take out Secret Paths because it has saved me in so many games, but deck space is so tight here. Daerons Runes isn't so necessary as the Galadhrim Minstrel is a much more surgical form of card draw.
I've updated this to bring in 2 copies of Orophin. 3 ranged attack on the turn that he enters, plus the ability to pull back a silvan from your discard pile is too good to miss.
I dropped a copy of Henamarth, and 1 copy of Mirkwood Runner to make room.
I've now used this deck (with minor quest specific tweaks here and there) to beat almost all quests up to The Three Trials. It really doesn't do well against Journey to Rhosgobel or The Morgul Vale, but is pretty reliable against all others I've tested.
Taken out 2 copies of Mirkwood Runner, which I was never overly thrilled to see in my hand and replaced them with 2 x Wandering Ent.
They don't have the Silvan synergy but 2/2/2 for 2 resources is a great addition, and the 3HP's give them some staying power.
I've also taken out 3xFresh Tracks and dropped in 3x Don't Be Hasty which may seem a controversial choice, but with so many 1hp allies I've found this card to be very useful in protecting against the quests that put direct damage on questing characters, e.g. Necromancers Reach. I will still swap in Fresh Tracks every now and then depending on the quest.
Mirkwood Runners are back in. I missed their ability to ignore defence more than I thought I would!
I've also taken out the Rivendell Minstrels, which was a hard call because they were the card that kick started the whole thing. However, their 1HP proved too frail far too many times, so I increased Wandering Ents to 3 copies (to take over the bulk of questing duties) and increased O Lorien to 3 copies.
The casualties were Don't be Hasty (never really worked out).
I've rounded out the 50 card deck with a single copy of Ranger Bow. It's often the case that Haldir is still ready at the end of combat, but can't damage anything in the staging area because of high defence. This will allow him to ping 1 damage, but it's not the end of the world if you don't draw it.
Major changes this time, to add in the new hero Rossiel and her toys.
I can;t seem to get the side quest "Scout Ahead"into this deck, so I have put in "Gather Information" as a place holder. Swap out this card when you build it.
This deck was originally built with Mirlonde as the third hero, who's stats aren't nuch different to Rossiel's without her boosts active so the deck has been performing great.
When you do manage to drop a couple of key cards into the victory display, she is immense.
It doesn't always happen that way and sometimes her ability never activates, so I'm hoping more cards come out that will spark off her ability as the cycle develops. That said, she works just fine in her unboosted state.
Yes it seems to be bugged. I think it's a problem with the Side Quest card, because I can't edit my list any more :-(
Can anyone fix it? Mods?
Here's a text version of the list

Definitely I'll have to try Rossiel. First time I saw her I thought "What is this crap?", but the more I look at her, more I like its ability. I think I'll take your deck as my first approach and then I'll do my personal tweaks.

Obviously starting threat is 26, not 28 (the deck builder has not taken into account Mirlonde's ability)

How is Rossiel working for you?
I've not used yet, and I like it because it has an interesting and new mechanic, but I'm not sure if it will be worth.

Unable to download. Is it just me or is it bugged?

Wouldn't you considered adding keen as lances?
Considered it, but that would then be 9 cards dedicated to Rossiel's ability.
I didn't want to compromise the original concept behind the deck, which currently holds up in solo even if you don't get Rossiel's ability to trigger.
